Hey everyone! It’s Dani, and today we’re diving into how to style bacon so it looks irresistibly crispy and camera-ready. Bacon can add incredible appeal to your food photos, but it can be tricky to get it just right. Here are my top tips to make your bacon look perfect on camera.
Tip 1: Use a Wire Rack for Even Cooking and Texture
A wire rack is a great tool to create curves and movement in your bacon:
- Cooking bacon on a wire rack in the oven, rather than on a pan, helps keep it out of the grease, giving you better control over its texture and crispiness.
- Set your oven to 325°F and cook the bacon for 20–30 minutes, depending on its thickness. This technique yields evenly cooked, beautifully crispy bacon.
Tip 2: Try a Microwave-Safe Bacon Tray
If your oven is in use, a microwave-safe bacon tray can be a convenient option:
- Look for a tray with deep, evenly spaced grooves to support the bacon, creating texture while cooking.
- This method is quick and effective, perfect for multitasking when you have other dishes in the oven. Just make sure the tray’s grooves are close enough to support each slice evenly.
Tip 3: Add a Touch of Oil to Refresh Bacon on Set
To keep bacon looking fresh during a photoshoot:
- If the bacon starts drying out, brush on a light layer of olive oil to restore its shine and keep it looking mouthwatering.
- For a more thorough refresh, quickly dunk the bacon in hot oil or the bacon grease from the pan. This will revive its color and sheen for a camera-ready finish.
