TRIPODS & BOOMS:
These are the tripods & the boom we currently use. A boom is helpful for shooting overhead video but a tall tripod with the cross arm is our preferred option. The cross arm is more stable than the boom is but has less reach so we do use both.
Ravelli Pro 70″ Tripod (I can no longer find this tripod but this Amazon Basics Tripod looks identical to it. It’s a great option for a beginner tripod but does not have a cross arm for overhead shots)
Slik Tripod (My first tripod. Still in use today. No overhead and does not have a detachable head but it’s a solid tripod with great quality for a very low price.)
Manfrotto MHXPRO-3WG XPRO Geared Head
Manfrotto 502 Video Head MVH502AH
Manfrotto 475B Pro Geared Tripod without Head
I prefer the Manfrotto 475B paired with the 131D Side Arm over the Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 055.
The MT055XPRO3 while it has a lateral arm built in, does not get tall enough to shoot at table height and leaves much to desire in the stability department. That being said it’s much more portable and lighter weight so if you have to travel at all it would be an acceptable solution.
