Tip 1: Make Your Spray Mixture

The first step to getting that fresh, wet look on produce is creating a spray:

• Glycerin is my top choice, but you can also use Karo syrup, which you can find at most grocery stores.
• Mix glycerin and water (or Karo syrup) in a one-to-one ratio. This mixture mimics natural condensation, giving your produce that freshly misted appearance.

Tip 2: Use a Spray Bottle

Next, you’ll need a spray bottle to apply your mixture:

• Reuse small spray bottles from around your house or check beauty supply and health food stores, especially in the aromatherapy section.
• Test a few bottles to find the spray pattern you like best, which works great for larger areas like baskets of strawberries or full salads.
• For items that can’t be sprayed directly (like sandwiches or delicate items), use the next tip.

Tip 3: Use a Needle Applicator or Toothpick for Precision

For smaller, precise applications, try a needle applicator:

• Needle applicators, available in craft stores or online, allow you to apply individual droplets exactly where you need them, like on lettuce leaves or the edge of a tomato.
• Toothpicks also work but are more time-consuming, as you’ll need to re-dip for each droplet. This method gives you control, keeping bread and other absorbent foods dry while still adding that beautiful, fresh look.

Needle applicators are especially handy for cocktails and other delicate settings, where you can create “runs” or even clean up edges for a polished look.
